Pioneers focusses on church planting among unreached peoples, emphasising five major unreached people blocs: Tribal (T), Hindu (H), Unreligious/Secular (U, many Chinese), Muslim (M), and Buddhist (B).
Pioneers values adaptation to different people and circumstances over stringent rules. Field-driven teams have the freedom to set standards appropriate to their ministry context.
Pioneers has approximately 3,000 personnel worldwide, sent from mobilisation bases in various countries, including Canada, the U.S., Ghana, Singapore, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Pioneers was founded in the U.S. in 1979, with Pioneers Canada emerging from a merger with World Outreach Fellowship in 1993.

Member Care
The primary source of care is the team leader, with teammates supporting each other's well-being. Our Member Care team provides additional support during transitions and crises.
Accountability occurs within teams and is facilitated through regular check-ins. Annual Ministry Plans (AMP) help team leaders track members' personal and spiritual growth.
Parents have the discretion to choose their children's education, whether through homeschooling, national schools, Christian schools, or boarding schools. Our Member Care team can assist in evaluating options.
Finances
Twelve percent of donations cover Pioneers' operating expenses—10% for the member's home base and 2% for international leadership costs.
This varies based on your specific situation, including country, city, and family needs. Our finance team will work with you to create a suitable budget.
All Pioneers members must enrol in our group medical insurance plan, which includes medical evacuation coverage.
While it's ideal to have all debt cleared, exceptions exist if repayments can be managed through existing support levels. Disclosures should be addressed during your Candidate Interview.
All donations go to Pioneers, not individuals, and donors receive tax-deductible receipts. Funds are allocated to approved ministry accounts.
Yes, Pioneers allows dual employment as long as it doesn't conflict with Pioneers responsibilities. Often, such work enhances ministry opportunities.
Qualifications and Steps to Become a Missionary
Candidates should demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit, effectiveness in ministry, a basic understanding of biblical concepts, and have a testimony of God's leading for cross-cultural service. A written recommendation from the sending church is also required.
All missionaries must be 18 years or older.
Yes, a solid understanding of the Bible is required. Candidates should ideally complete foundational courses, which can be done online.
All long-term missionary candidates must attend our Candidate Orientation Programme (COP) to assess fit, consider ministry locations, and receive early preparation.
Divorce will not disqualify candidates. Each case is evaluated individually, applying grace while respecting Biblical standards.
