GLORY FIRST

He is Worthy

OUR UNDERLYING HEARTBEAT

Pioneers is widely known for our work around the world at the frontlines of missions work. While it's true that the calling of the Great Commission is a work that we are deeply passionate about, it's far from our whole story. To say that Pioneers is solely focussed on discipleship is accurate, but it's not precise.

The underlying heartbeat that draws us to the unreached is something far grander and awe provoking: Our primary concern is the glory of God.

"Glory" is the ineffable, holy, and indescribable awesomeness of God. This glory stands as a central theme throughout Scripture, referring to the radiant manifestation of God's presence, power, and perfection. As the Psalmist declares, "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1). This glory is not merely an attribute of God but an expression of His very essence—His holiness, majesty, and transcendence above all creation.

"Glory" is the ineffable, holy, and indescribable awesomeness of God.

A breathtaking view of an urban cityscape at twilight with a scenic skyline and mountains.

WHO IS THIS GLORIOUS GOD?

It is the good work of a lifetime to examine this question. There is one God. In Isaiah's vision, the angels cry out, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!" (Isaiah 6:3), revealing how God's glory fills not just the heavens but permeates all creation.

This one God exists is perfect unity within himself in three distinct Persons, all God, all glorious:

In the Father, we witness glory displayed through creation and providence, as "from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever" (Romans 11:36).

In the Son, glory shines most brilliantly through the incarnation, where "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father" (John 1:14), culminating in Christ's sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection.

In the Holy Spirit, glory manifests through His transforming work in believers, as "we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another" (2 Corinthians 3:18), empowering the church to reflect God's glory in the world.

PURSUING WONDER

There is of course so much more we could say about this. Among our community are those who could expound on the subjects of God and Glory in dizzying and dense theological terms (and indeed, we regularly work with countless Bible-nerds who could engage with that!). Yet, the wonder of the gospel is that this beauty can be appreciated by even a child - may we never lose that simple sense of wonder!

Quite simply our loving and magnificent God is glorious beyond comprehension and compare. In His generosity he has revealed His glory by degrees to His people. He draws us to Himself, because He loves us. He commands us to be heralds of this incredible truth to those who haven't yet heard.

A commitment to pioneer

What would it take to engage 250 more people groups—in a single decade?

From the start, Pioneers teams focussed on unreached people groups, using innovative and creative means to share the gospel with the unreached in culturally understandable ways.

In 2023, we were challenged to unite with our colleagues worldwide to share the gospel in a growing number of unreached places and with people who have yet to hear it—to engage 250 more people groups with the gospel in the next 10 years (2025-2035).

HAVE
YOU
HEARD?

Compelled to Go

Have you heard? Do you want to know more about this God who made you in His image? We would be honoured to talk to you about this - but would also encourage you to meet with a Christian face to face.

We love missions because we love God, and want to glorify Him by faith and service. As long as there is a people on this earth who don't know the amazing truth that Jesus Christ is the saviour King who died for their sins, then we are compelled to go and tell them.
